This is a short post. I have a couple of RHEL servers that run without Red Hat support. I had been asked about getting updates on the servers, so we bought a RHN subscription in order to get updates. I had issues getting them subscribed due to firewall policies. Anyway, during some research I found that Oracle provides updates for free.

So if you are on the cheap, or just not interested in buying an RHN subscription just to get updates, you could use the info in the link above. Since OEL is RHEL, it works the same as it would using RHN.
